Combining fixed and opening sections
Fixed glazing can extend a sliding door or French door to increase the glazed area. A transom is positioned above an opening. The layout is planned alongside façade lines and the actual requirements for ventilation and access.

Planning for cleaning and maintenance
Fixed glazing cannot be opened for cleaning from inside. Its height, external access and the presence of a terrace or balcony therefore influence the design. This is assessed before the façade layout is finalised.

Can a fixed window be fitted alongside a sliding door?
Yes, following assessment of the complete assembly. Profiles, joints, fixings and glazing lines must be coordinated.
Can a fixed window replace an opening window?
It provides light and a view but cannot provide ventilation or access. The choice depends on the room’s other openings and requirements.
